DEFYING THE SCHOOL BOARD
Mr Atkinson, superintendant school board officer, summoned Richard Burrows who did not appear, for the non-attendance at school of his three children. The officer stated that the children, Anthony 11, John and Thomas, were with the father on a canal boat, and had not been to school for three months. He had been spoken to several times but did not seem to care. Utterly defying the board. Defendant was fined 3d in each case.

Below article is related to my x3 great uncle Benjamin Armstrong.

Following the death of Benjamin Armstrong, his estate was left to his daughter Hannah who took over his assets, she married to E B Goodfellow but died not long afterwards. Mr Goodfellow was a member of the Masons as was John Armstrong. He disappeared shortly after the death of his wife. Begs the question? Where did he go and what happened to Hannah.
